Laura Gulley’s Biography
Laura Gulley performs and records regularly on Baroque violin with Boston Baroque, Foundling, the Newport Baroque Orchestra, La Donna Musicale, Amphion’s Lyre and Renaissonics. She played with the Boston Early Music Festival Orchestra in 2005 and has also performed with Revels, the Rialto Ensemble and Musicians of the Old Post Road. Gulley researched, directed and performed Latin American music of the Baroque era for the score of a film about Simon Bolivar produced in 2001 by the John Carter Brown Library. On modern violin she performs with the Rhode Island Philharmonic and numerous other groups in Providence and Boston. Gulley also collaborates with composers Steven Jobe and Alec K. Redfearn on recordings, live performances and music for theater, dance and film. She currently directs the Suzuki string program and teaches thirty young violinists at the Music School of the Rhode Island Philharmonic, where she has taught since 1990.
